Naked Blocks for My Memories Crazy Quilt.

These are the naked crazy quilt blocks for the Memory Quilt that I plan on making. I hope to have it done by 2015. Why so long? I am new to crazy quilting so I am learning as I go along. I will post finished blocks as I get them done. There are 54 8 Inch squares and 4 6x8 inch squares. I belong to 3 Crazy Quilting groups right now. They are Stitch Map, World Wide Crazy Quilting, and Crazy Quilting for Newbies. They are helping me to learn Crazy Quilting.

What I Have Been Doing

I Joined Face book. Some Yahoo Groups And I am still Line Dancing at the nursing homes in town. I sometimes feel like I spend my life on this computer. Of coarse since Bob doesn't use a computer he thinks I am a genius finding things so fast on this machine. I wish Mike had lived to see where all those hours I spent learning to use a computer has got me. That was back in the day when you used DOS and had to put all the commands in this thing to get anywhere and mostly you just stored info on it. I am going to post some photos of the my new hobby Crazy Quilting. As you all know anything with crazy in it is appropriate for me to learn.

These are some of my first embroidery projects for my Crazy Quilt.

This Block I made For Hearts And Hands For Sendai. It is for the Group Crazy Quilting International. The Group owner Leslie will be collect all the blocks and put them together to make a Quilt to be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to Sendai Japan.

These pictures are all items I won last year in a a giveaway that Kathy had on her blog Crazy by Design.

These pictures were taken of the items I got from the 2010 lace buy. The buys are really worth it I wish I had taken pictures of the fabrics I got from the Fabric and silk tie buys.

Its been along time since I have written anything. I finished that dress for Micah and many more things. Micah is a year old now. I will be putting some new picture of her on soon. The picture on my home page is a picture of me holding her at a nursing home I was line dancing at. I will be line dancing for a year the end of September and I love it. It does take a lot of my time. It is also a lot of exercise.

Mitchel played baseball this year and I was so proud of him. It was his first year he got his name in the paper for best defensive play. He did a great job at all his games I ended up owing him 3 Dairy Queens and I was only at 4 games.

I had some bad days My Uncle who I loved very much passed away. After a long battle with cancer. I miss him very much. I hope to go see my Aunt again soon. I saw her once on my way to Boston and Maine.

Bob and I took a trip to see his daughter and son and his new grandson Alex.We had agreat time we happened to get to Maine just as the lobster came in. We drank Strawberry banana Daquris and ate lobster. Well Bob's Daughter Son In law Son Daughter in law and I did. Bob doesn't drink and doesn't like lobster. We went on the Constitution in Boston and I walked on the freedom trail and I saw where the Boston tea party took place.

Micah came to Michigan with her Mom and Dad. She saw her Grandfather for the first time. They stayed about 2 weeks so I got to see a lot of her.

I will write more soon and put some of the pictures of the things I have been making on soon.

Hi I just finished A new Dress for my great niece who will be comming to Michigan in October. I am so excited to finally be able to see her. She was born in August and her name is Michea.

Hi I know it has been a long time since I last posted. A lot has happened. My New great niece was born her name is Michea. She is a beautiful baby I will be posting pictures of her soon. I have taken two vacations in July to the Soo Locks

and Tahquamenon Falls

And Whitefish Point.We had a great time. We went to the Shipwreck Museum and saw the bell from the Edmund Fitzgerald and read about many more Shipwrecks. We also saw many more Maritime exhibits.
We Also Went to Colonial Michilimackinac. We saw how they dyed yarn in the old days and many other interesting things.
Everything except Fort Michilimackinac was across the Mackinaw Bridge.

In August we went to Bob's his son's and grandson,s grandson's wife and Bob's ex wife's birthday party in Holland Michigan. We saw a Civil War reenactment in the park in the middle of Holland. The town was packed with tourist they had a huge sidewalk sale besides all the other stuff going on.We also attended a White Caps Game in Grand Rapids ( Detroit Tigers Minor League).We also stayed with Bob's daughter and family in Grand Rapids Michigan. She took Bob and I on a tour of Grand Rapids. We also went to dinner at Olive Garden for Bob's birthday. When we went back Bob and I treated her family and his son to dinner at Red Robin's for letting us stay at her house.Bob's other daughter and her family pictured in the front row of the baseball Picture decided to come to our home town. We all went to a museum here we had a great lunch at an old fashioned restaurant here and had a spaghetti dinner at my house later that evening. A good time was had by all.Here are the things I have been Making lately. This is the afghan I made for Bob for his birthday. The small squares are done from a pattern I got from about .com. The Large Logo square in the middle I designed from a picture of a rug I saw.This is the fleece quilt I made for Bob's sons birthday. It is a tied quilt with the Michigan Logo on both sides and quilt batting in the middle. You can see where their hearts lay.This is a shopping bag I designed for the Kiss Loom.For part of it I used Anne Bipes Lace stitch from her pamphlet Loom Knitting Stitch Patterns 2.Now I am starting do the afghan that Robin Mc Coy is doing In the Loom Knitting Classes Group on Yahoo. We do one square a month I have a lot of catching up to do. Also I am starting the sweater Graciela is doing in the classes group.
Other then that I spent sometime with my granddaughter and grandson. I go to a wonderful dinner with just my son about once a month. It is a new thing he started doing with me and I really enjoy it. I have also started line dancing. I will never say I am bored again.

I went to the shower on April 20TH. I had to really hurry and get things done in time for the shower since it was in April and the baby won't be born until August. The parents live in Texas and I think they decided it was better to fly earlier in the pregnancy. The shower was beautiful with a lot of great food. I liked all the things but I really loved making the little gym shoe booties with a tongue that went with the dress. I think I will try to design some to make on the knitting loom.

Here are the baby item's I made in Graciela's class. They came out so cute I sent them to my new great niece Ellyanna Marie. Graciela is such a good teacher and was alway's there when I had a question. It made it so easy to make these things on my Kiss Loom. I am going to be crocheting some things for my other great niece due in August. Then I hope to get back to doing things on my Kiss Loom that I want to try.

Saw My granddaughter over the Spring break we got to spend sometime together and I enjoyed it immensely. She is such a sweet person and is growing up so fast. I know when she goes home I miss her terribly but I am glad we have such a good time when we see each other.

My New friend and I.

I didn't realize how long it had been since I published anything to my blog. I have been loom knitting with my Kiss Loom. I have been trying to help Graciela with her Baby items class. A lot of things I have frogged because I wanted to try new stitches and just see what all I could do with the Kiss Loom. So far I have been able to do everything I tried. I also have been looming and crocheting a lot of baby items since I had one great niece March 6TH. Welcome Ellyana Marie. I have another great niece due in August but they are having the shower here April 19, So I have to get busy.

I have also been dating a new person and we have been seeing a lot of each other and getting along well. We go to a lot of dances and play cards with a lot with friends. He is a very nice person and I didn't realize how lonely I had been. It sure beats being alone all the time.

Today I went to watch my grandson wrestle. He has been winning Gold medals in wrestling. I am so proud of him. I haven't seen my grand daughter to much and I miss her terrible.

We have finally had one day when it got to the forties. I will sure be glad when this winter is over it sure has seemed a long one. I plan on doing some traveling when the weather breaks. Maybe go to the Holland Michigan Tulip festival and other things.

Well that is about it for this post I hope next post I will be able to include my new baby items I am making. Happy St Patrick's Day everyone on Monday 17TH of March.

Baby Items Class

I just finished the baby items for the Kiss Loom class Graciela gave in January. I still love my Kiss Looms and thought I would post one of the phots here. I really like how the Kiss Looms are working. I think I will start experimenting with some of my own baby item patterns on the Kiss since I have two greats coming. One is a great niece and the other we don't know if niece or nephew yet.

My life Is Changing Some

Hi Just Checking In to say I am still here.
I am going out for the first time since my husband passed away. I have been having a lot of fun. Going dancing, shopping, playing cards,and watching old movies. It is nice having someone to do things with after all this time. He has a lot to over look with me being a larynectomee and all. He seems like a nice man who likes to talk about his kids , tell jokes and have fun.
I lost my vocal cords and talk with a prostheses and also breath through a hole in my throat. I have been cancer free for 9 years now so I am use to it and it is not as bad as it sounds. Of coarse I would rather not have had the cancer. If I only knew what I know now I would have never gone near a cigarette
I have been taking Graciela's baby items class on the Yahoo Loom Class Group. I will post pictures of the new items I made as soon as they are done. Graciela the teacher and Cliff (who makes the Kiss looms ) are such nice people and have helped me so much learning how to use the looms. I have some arthritis so the Looms let me continue my needle work without as much pain. The looms also let me get projects done faster because I don't have to quit so often because of pain.
I want to thank everyone who left such wonderful comments on my pictures of things I made and my family.

Christmas 2007

Here are the pictures of our family on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2007.

We had a wonderful Served 5 coarse meal Christmas Eve. Our Host and hostess decided they wanted to do something different. It was a wonderful dinner. This was one of the servers my friends son.

Just what the baby needed was more noise the parents were very happy with my daughter in law for the present.

The baby jumping from his chair he did it several times he was sure we were all there for him to entertain. We really were.

First we had a big breakfast made by my grandson as part of his Christmas present to Us. It was really good he made eggs bacon toast and other goodies he also had a present for each one of us at our seats.

This is my granddaughter with her favorite present. My daughter in law packed both her favorite Christmas present and my grandsons favorite Christmas present in big boxes, with no names on them and waited a few minutes after they opened their other presents so they wouldn't think they were going to get them. They were really happy when they opened them.

Watching the kids open their presents is still my favorite time on Christmas day.

My grandson with his favorite Christmas present his DSL lite. He explained to me that it was a new hand held game that came out that had a better picture and more light and still played a lot of the games he had.

We had a wonderful day I cooked a ham and my daughter in law made home made potato soup. We also had lot of other goodies and played cards.

I also started teaching both my granddaughter and grandson how to start loom knitting. One of my granddaughter presents was a set of Knifty Knitter Looms. I was surprised when they were both so interested in learning on Christmas morning.

Holidays Over

I have really neglected my Blog during the Holidays. I wanted to post some pictures of a baby blanket I got done one on my Kiss Looms. I did it by going through Graciela's Baby Blanket Class Dec 2007. My next post I will have some pictures from the holidays and some updates on my life.

This is the baby blanket after I put on the trim. I thought Graciela's instructions were easy to follow and I learned to increase, decrease, and purl, on the Kiss Loom. Although the class was taught so you could use any loom with 81 pegs. I had to frog twice small amounts due to my error .I am very happy with the results. The next class I have joined will be the baby things done on the Kiss loom. If you have not seen the Yahoo group for loom knitting classes you should look it up under Loom Knitting Classes on Yahoo groups. It is not only for the Kiss Looms. There are many great things that they are teach classes on how to make things like dog leashes golf club covers, etc. I am going to join some other classes soon.

These are some of the things I have loom knitted. Also I have included some of my storage solutions for my looms.I am in the process of looming more things now. I really like looming. I have met a lot of wonderful people

in the groups I have joined to learn loom knitting. I did not know that people would be so friendly and helpful for free. Any question you have they will find you a answer for they give of their time and care. All they ask is for you to be friendly also. I hope to be filling this blog entry with pictures soon.
This is a square I loomed on the Kiss loom for a challenge. We used the same type of yarn with the same loom,with the same setting.same number of stitches and rows. We wanted to find the diversity in the gauge because of the different tensions people would wrap with.
This is a sweater I loomed for my dad back in the late eighties. I had found a loom in a bunch of craft stuff I bought at a estate sale. I think it was hand made with just nails and a board. I wish I had kept it So I could now include it in my collection of looms. My dad must have liked the sweater because I have a couple pictures of him in it.

I call these Muk A Luks. This well worn pair are mine. I made them on the Knifty Knitter loom.I love wearing them around the house because they are really warm.

This is a bedspread I loomed again back in the eighties on the same loom I made the sweater for my Dad. It was actually to warm. So I gave it to the hunting camp and they are still using it.

These are boxes I made for my various looms. I put in some clear plastic boxes to hold the extra parts. Everything fits in perfectly and I can stack them on a shelf.

This is a duffel bag that I bought at the Dollar Store. It has a pocket in the front that I keep a plastic box in with all the extras. I put my long Knifty Knitters Looms in it and hang it on a hook on the wall to store them.

These are a few of the Quilts I made over the years again I did not take pictures of them all, I made my grandson a picture quilt with a picture of fish and his grandfather's boat which I did not take a picture of. I also made my son and daughter in law a Baltimore flower appliqued quilt which I did not take a picture of. They want me to sew something that came loose so I may get a picture of it yet.

These are some of the things I have sewn over the years the very top picture is my granddaughter who I am teaching to sew. She is holding the first curtain that she sewed all by herself for her room. She loves to do crafts with me she doesn't know it but this year for Christmas I bought her a set of Knifty Knitter Looms so she can start loom knitting which I am learning myself. The guy in the caveman costume is my brother who would every year tell me he was not going to go to any Halloween parties then come over Halloween morning and tell me he needed a costume. That is brothers for you.The lion is a wrap around you puppet that was very popular in the early eighties. I made the bride dolls for my nieces. Back then all little girls wanted a bride doll. I also made bride dolls for people out of their wedding dresses coping their wedding dresses as close as possible. I wish I would have taken pictures of those. The two pillow looking things with cats on them are two of my six kitchen chair cushions. I could nor find cat fabric I wanted so I took place mats with cats on them I found at a dollar store and cut them to shape added fabric and stuffing.

These are all pictures of some Of the items I needle punched during the time I had my needle punch and yarn business. There are also pictures of my husband, nephew, and little niece helping me with the business. I had so much Yarn that my husband added a room to our house to hold it. I also gave classes in needle punch. There is a picture of the electric yarn winder that my husband had built that he attached a counter to that would count off the yards as the yarn was wound. I had my business until circumstances made me have to give it up. As with all businesses as people will tell you you get to be your own boss but you put in from 60 to 70 hours or more a week until you are established enough to hire employees. So it isn't all fluff. I did enjoy my customers and my students. I made a lot of friends.

Things I Have Crocheted Over The Years

Here pictures of some of the things I crocheted over the years. I wish I had taken pictures sooner then I did. I still will give away things and forget to take a picture before I give them a way. One case in point I just crocheted my daughter - in - law a sweater for skiing and I gave it to her without taking a picture. Oh well maybe I can get her to model it someday.

I am including a picture of my Grandmother crocheting. In fact it is the last picture taken of her and she is still crocheting.

I also will include pictures of myself, my niece, and my granddaughter in a dress that my Grandmother crocheted, It belongs to my older sister and she lets all the girls in the family have their pictures taken in it. So as my sisters and my granddaughters get their picture taken in the dress it is crocheted by their great great grandmother. I hope the tradition will continue through the generations. All other items I have crocheted.

My Son And His Family

Had to decide whether I wanted to include pictures of my Son ,daughter-in-law and grandchildren on my Blog. They are a very special part of my life but also a very private part of my life. I have decided to include them because they are my life so how can I write about my life without including them.

My Son and daughter in law were married on September 28TH.

I am one of those lucky mother -in -laws who actually got a wonderful daughter in law. I am very proud of them both. They both work hard. Take good care of their children. Spend a lot of time doing things with their children. Although I try not to butt into their lives to much because with them both working they don't get to spend that much time together. They always include me in special events and other things in their lives.

This is my granddaughter now she is 12 here. She just turned 13 a teenager how fast they grow up.

This is my grandson now. He will be 11 in two months

They are still proud to be brother and sister.

This was another big day in our lives. It was the day my daughter - in - law got her Masters Of Arts Degree with a license in counseling from Central Michigan University. We were all very proud of her.

Gizmo Our Dog

This was Mine and My husbands Dog Gizmo she was the best dog I have ever had. My husband use to take here everywhere with him except work and hunting. Some of my favorite memories were my husband and the dog coming home down the street with the dogs ears flapping in the wind. Her name was Gizmo ( although we had a friend who could never remember and would call her Gadget).

We had her till she was 16 years old. Then She started losing her neurological Integrity, She would fall be deaf at times, not be able to get up and other things. We made the decision we had to let her go. We sat outside the Humane Society for a hour cried , petted her, and told her what a good dog she was. Then we took her in and held her till her heart stopped beating. I still miss her.

My Cat Patches

I always had dogs over the Years and only a couple of Cats. I got sick in 2005 and there was no one to take care of my dog Both my daughter-in-law and son work and I had just moved up here in 2004 so I did not know anyone I could ask to take care of my dog so my son gave her away. In 2006 my niece's cat had kittens so I told her I wanted one. So my brother brought Patches to me from downstate.She was 9 weeks old when I got her. She is my best friend at times and my worse at others. She some times thinks she is a dog. here she is sitting up for her treat.

She is rolling over here. She even likes some dog treats..

She especiallyLikes the chicken strips jerky type treats made for dogs.

She is the most curious cat I have ever seen. If she heres either my computer or photo printer she fcomes a running to watch it. I have a cat tower in my living room that she gets on the top shelf and watches out the window. Up there she can see over my cafe' curtains and watch what is going on in the neighbor hood. Here she is watching me print pictures to scan to my computer.

She is also the most spoiled cat I have ever seen when I come into the house if I have any kind of bag she watches till I put everything away to see If she got anything from the store. People have come in and seen her toys all over and said it looks like I have a kid. If I am busy to long on the computer she will get on the hutch on the top of the computer desk and start pushing things down on top of me. She wakes me up at 1 A. M. because she wants to play. I actually have to get up and close her out of the room because she starts pushing things off my dresser and trying to knock the pictures off the wall if I don't get up to play. Then at 7:30 A.M. she starts knocking at my bedroom door till I get up.

She is a big cat (my nephew says she looks like a mountain lion) who comes from a funny litter. She looks the most like the mother cat. Then my brother has one of her sisters that is completely plain dark grey and looks like she might be about 7 months old. Then my niece has a brother of Patches that is completely a orange stripe tabby looking cat. Then there is another sister that is black and white. I have never seen such a diverse litter of kittens.

I Wanted to get the other Important pictures of my darling husband on my blog that shows some of the wonderful moments he had in his life and our lives.

The first picture is the day we got engaged. We were at a picnic for a club we belonged to and we took a walk and he decided that it was a good idea to get married Boy! did I agree.

The second picture is the day we got married. You will see we were not that dressed up just to prove that some of the best marriges don't need a lot of Bling

Bling.

The Third picture is of us on our Honeymoon. Actually a second honeymoon because the day we got married we took his father, my son, his brother, and his brother's wife up North. We actually went looking for property for his brother and he took me through such wonderful things as Michigan swamps. We did have fun with all the family but I could have skipped the Michigan swamps.

The fifth picture is Christmas Eve. We are tired and waiting for our about 20 guest to arrive we had a party every year on Christmas Eve. They went from evening parties to afternoon parties that lasted into the late evening.

The Sixth picture shows him as being a proud Dad to my son.

The seventh picture is showing how comfortable the children were with him. As his namsake takes a nap next to him.

The Tenth and last picture shows another side of him as a hunter. He looks at his new gift as if it was made of solid gold. It was a present from his Nephews and brother. It had a beautiful scope that went with it.He was famous for his venison jerky sending it as far as California. Always making each batch to the persons specifications whether it was mild, medium or hot. The kids still remember getting their jerky from uncle Mike or Papa.

My darling Husband

Before I put on other pictures I thought I would put on some pictures of My Wonderful Husband. Today is the 4Th anniversary of his death. I cry as I write this as it feels as if it were yesterday. He was the most wonderful husband in the world . Not only husband but person. I have never heard a person say a bad thing about him. People have asked me why I haven't found someone else. It is because I can't stop comparing other men to him and there is no one I have met that can compare. He made all my dreams come true during the time we were together. We went through some very hard times with family matters and health and such. They were always things we could not control. We made it through them all together. We always knew the other one was there when we needed them. We didn't need jealousy in our lives because we both knew where the other ones heart was. He could take the worse times in my life and turn them into times I could make it through by just being by my side. I still love him and always will. Someday I may find someone else I want to be with, but they will never replace him in my heart. He gave me love, security, hope, and everything I could ever want. I would give the world to touch his hand, his face, feel his hug once again. I could talk to him about anything. He knew when to take my hand and when not to. When to coddle me and when to make me stand strong. When to give into my every want and when not to. (which wasn't often). When I was in need and when I needed to be needed. He took my son and made him his. Maybe not in name but in heart. Mostly he took my love and he gave me all of his.

More About Me

I am a widow. I live in my own home with my cat Patches. My son and his family live about a mile from me. Other then my son I have a wonderful daughter - in - law and 2 fantastic grandchildren.
The rest of my family are spread all over the United States. I have a sister ( brother - in - law ) and a brother ( sister-in - law ) in Arizona, I have a brother in Michigan, and a sister( brother - in - law) in Virgina. I have a brother - in - law I am close to in Washington, and a sister - in - law in Michigan. I have a nephew and niece in Texas ( actually they move all over the Country). A nephew , and 2 nieces in California, 2 nieces and 6 nephews in Arizona, 3 nieces and 4 nephews in Michigan, 1 niece 2 nephews in Virgina. I will add a niece in Arizona in March and a nephew in California in April. Not to mention a great niece in Arizona, 2 great nieces and a great nephew in California. 2 great nephews in Michigan and in March I will add a great niece in Arizona. I will not even list Aunts Uncles and cousins. I miss them all. I have decided that what I need is a jet!! Does anyone have one they don't want that flies good?
I moved here from where I grew up just about 4 years ago. I left a lot of family and friends who I miss a lot. I am making new friends, but it is hard. I have 2 good friends from up here that my husband and I knew before my husband died. I am in a singles group mostly of seniors even though I am not quite a senior yet. We have a meeting every Thursday where we play games, we go to dinner, to plays, concerts, have pot luck dinners, go to dances etc. I belong to 2 recycling groups, 2 crochet groups ,1 larnygectomy group, and 4 knitting loom groups on the Internet . I am making friends on these groups they are so very helpful with any problem you have even if it is off topic. My next post will be about my cat then I will start putting photos on my blog of the things I have made over the years.

Starting My Blog

Well I finally get to start my blog. I scanned photos of some of the things I made over the years. I wish I had taken photos of more of the things I made. I did not get the idea of taking pictures until people would ask me where something I had been working on went and it was already given away. Then there are those times that I just didn't think about taking a picture till I had already given the item away. I just crocheted a sweater for my daughter-in-law that I gave to her then thought I didn't take a picture again.Oh well that is what getting old does to you! There is a picture of my grandmother who loved to crotchet.Then there area pictures of me, my niece, and my grandaughter in a dress that my grandmother made for my oplder sister and that we have all had our picture taken in for three generations. The picture of my grandmother is the last picture taken of her and guess what she is doing? Crocheting!!!
I finished my Yarn Substitution Chart. I have been working on it for about a month now. I have already listed over 900 and some yarns. I am learning to Loom Knit so I made the Yarn Substitution Chart to contribute something to my groups and to thank them for being so kind and helping me learn to loom knit. Also for my crocheting group friends whom even though I have been crocheting for almost fifty years have taught me new things. Many of them have become friends and pen pals.
